I`m going to let you all into a secret now - Nick, my lovely hubby, happens to enjoy making bread, so he makes all ours, and doesn`t use a breadmaker : just his own fair hands. I do the quality control bit when it comes out of the oven! He makes garlic bread & focaccia too. Such a useful fella!

OOOH lovely kathleen!

I make our own bread too...it is normal to me now, I make either three or four in one go or one a day depending on time issues! The children sometimes do knead but they like eating raw dough best! LOL I make sourdough, wholemeal, foccacia and cheese breads....On Weds we always eat pittas, break fom bread! I am useless at gluten free bread so I don't eat bread at all ...tough life LOL..

Yes Lizzie there is a far larger network then people imagine for HSers. There is a large Oxford group and I run our Catholic group where we meet once a month for the day. I have eight to ten Mams coming which is over 65 children usually- totally manic but great fun! I take the under 5s but have lots of help.

Love,
Amanda

and just as we thought it s all over.....here we go again.
We had some snowfall in the night which wasn't much. Set off for work as usual-fine until we got to the outskirts of town then chaos- the roads were treacherous. I got into school ok, but by 8 O clock everywhere was gridlocked. The school buses got stuck and the road outside the school was closed by the police. To add to this, trains were disrupted. Despite all this most staff and kids managed to get in by 9.30. And the government had the cheek to criticise schools for closing!!! We don't want to close- but it would help if it was made easier for people to travel.

As ice is forecast overnight I'm dreading tomorrow.

Sorry about this rant- I realise it should have been in the steam room !

Oh Kathleen, I am drooling here! Hot bread just out of the oven with a smear of butter. Bliss!

And Amanda's cheese bread! Wouldn't need butter! Gorgeous.

All these skills that I used to have when I had a house full of children are gone but may be refound after retiral, bread and cake making and so on.
